Served from 2/8/1941 to 5/2/1946. In early 1943 was promoted to Major and Commander of the 289th Infantry Regiment, 75th Division. In June 1943 was promoted to Lieutenant Colonel. For his service in WWII was awarded the Silver Star, the Bronze Star, the Arms of Colmar, the French Croix de Guerre, the Commendation Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster, the Occupation Medal, the WWII Victory Medal, the European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal, the American Campaign Medal, the American Defense Medal, the Combat Infantryman Badge and the Expert Infantryman Badge.
