Activity During WWII

He was an Army Air Forces Captain in charge of ground support operations within the 7th Army Air Force Fighter Command. This fighter command initially defended Hawaii, Midway Island, Canton Island, Phoenix Islands and Line Islands using P-40 and P-47 aircraft. His command gradually advanced into extensive combat missions as bomber escorts in the Marshall, Gilbert, Mariana, Palau and Iwo Jima Islands and lastly, flew long-range bomber escort missions using P-51 aircraft against Japan itself from Ie Shima, Okinawa and Iwo Jima.
