Served from 1943 to 1945 in the G-2 section (counterintelligence) at Supreme Headquarters Allied Expeditionary Force (SHAEF) in England, France and Germany. He was a French translator and was a liaison with Belgian resistance forces. He was awarded the Bronze Star and the Belgian Croix de Guerre with Palms. Also awarded the Good Conduct medal, the WWII Victory medal and European theater ribbon with stars.
