Activity During WWII

Sergeant in the 121st Combat Engineer Battalion, 29th Infantry Division. Directed the combat team that managed to blow the wall at Vienne-la-ville and opened the beach on D-Day under heavy sniper and machine gun fire. He was wounded in action and suffered an amputation whilst rescuing wounded comrades in a minefield in Jolich, Germany. He was awarded the Silver Star, two Bronze Stars, the Purple Heart and the Good Conduct medal. He was nominated for a Croix de Guerre.
