She enlisted in 1942 and served in the Women's Army Air Corps as an air traffic control officer. She was stationed in Waco. She also volunteered as crew for test flights of B-25 aircraft. She received the Good Conduct medal, the Women's Army Corps service medal, the American theater ribbon and the WWII Victory medal.
