He served as a Private in WWII with the 100th Infantry Division (Century Division), 397th Infantry Regiment, Second Battalion, Company E, in the European Theater of Operations. Prisoner of War, he was detained by Germany from January 8, 1945 to March 11, 1946 and was held at Stalag 9B Bad Orb Hessen-Nassau, Prussia.
