He served as a Second Lieutenant in WWII with the 100th Infantry Division (Century Division), 374th Field Artillery Battalion, 374th Headquarters and Headquarters Battery, in the European Theater of Operations. He was a Prisoner of War and was detained by Germany from January 9, 1945 to July 3, 1945. He was held at Camp Oflag 13B Hammelburg Bavaria.
