He served on 4 ships, 2 Freighters and 2 Liberties; the Abel Parker Upshur, and the USAT Charles Morgan. The Morgan was bombed at Normandy on June 10, 1944. He abandoned ship with the Mess Bell, WAS rescued by a LST, and returned to the USA.
