Served from 1942 to 1945 in the 29th Infantry Division. He served in England, the Normandy invasion, Northern France, the Ardennes, the Rhineland and Germany. He was one of the first U.S. soldiers to liberate Paris. He received the Bronze Star for valor. He was discharged in October 1945.
