Activity During WWII

He was in the European conflict during WWII, serving with the U.S. Army 3rd Infantry Division as he landed at Anzio, liberated Rome, traveled through France to Germany and Austria, liberating cities along the way. He fought in seven campaigns and made two amphibious landings. He served as a Rifleman 745 from 1943 to 1945, earning many military honors including: the Combat Infantryman Badge in 1944; the Military Order of The Purple Heart with one oak-leaf cluster in 1944 and 1945; and the Bronze Star Medal with 1 Oak-Leaf cluster, the European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Ribbon, the Presidential Unit Citation with an oak-leaf cluster and two French Croix de Guerre with palms in 1945. He was given the French Legion of Honour in 2010 for his fighting to liberate France.
