Rank: Staff Sergeant. On April 18, 1942, he entered the United States Army with his induction at Trenton, New Jersey. Served in Company-E, Second Battalion, 110th Infantry Regiment, Twenty-Eighth Infantry ‘Keystone’ Division attached to the U.S. First Army in the European Theater of Operations. He was captured by the German armed forces Saturday, December 16, 1944 during the Battle of the Bulge, Ardennes-Alsace Campaign. Forced marched nearly two hundred miles from Wiltz, Luxembourg to Limburg, Germany, and then transported by rail to Stalag IV B Prisoner of War Camp in Muhlberg, Germany. On Tuesday, March 6, 1945 he died of unknown causes, and buried in a Prisoner of War cemetery in Neuburxdorf Germany. After the cessation of hostilities in Europe, a Quartermaster Graves Registration Company, Quartermaster Corps conducted recovery operations in Germany, and his remains were recovered. The family of this Soldier requested that his remains be interred at the Lorraine American Cemetery in Saint Avold, France. This American Patriot was awarded the Purple Heart posthumously, for his ultimate sacrifice in defense of his country.
