He served in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater of Operations, and took part in the New Guinea and Luzon campaigns. His awards include the American Defense Ribbon, American Theater Ribbon, Asiatic-Pacific Theater Ribbon with 2 bronze stars, Philippine Liberation with 1 bronze star and Good Conduct Medal.
