Activity During WWII

Enlisted 10 October 1942 at Jefferson Barracks, Missouri. Was assigned to U.S. Army Air Corps Weather School in Chanute Field, Illinois. Upon completing the school, he stayed as meteorology instructor at Chanute for most of the war. Toward the end of the war, he was assigned to an Army base in North Carolina to undergo rigorous infantry training for the invasion of Japan. He was on a troop train headed to the Pacific for the invasion of Japan when the atomic bombs were dropped. He was mustered out of the Army within a few months of the end of the war.
