He was attached to the 184th Infantry Regiment, 7th Infantry Division and was Killed in action during mopping up operations against Japanese Forces on Camotes in the Philippine Islands. He is buried in the Manila American Cemetery, Taguig City, Philippine Islands, and was posthumously awarded the Purple Heart.
