He served as a Sergeant in WWII with the 100th Infantry Division (Century Division), 398th Infantry Regiment, First Battalion, Company D, in the European Theater of Operations. He was a Prisoner of War and was detained by Germany from December 4, 1944 to July 21, 1945. He was held at Stalag 12A to 9B Limburg An Der Lahn Hessen-Nassau, Prussia.
