Activity During WWII

He served as a Private First Class in WWII with the 100th Infantry Division (Century Division), 397th Infantry Regiment, Second Battalion, Company E, in the European Theater of Operations. He was reported Missing in Action on August 6, 1945. His Father was later notified of his death. He was awarded the Purple Heart. He was also awarded the Silver Star Medal for Gallantry in Actin near Wustenrot, Germany.
