He served as a Technical Sergeant in WWII with the 100th Infantry Division (Century Division), 397th Infantry Regiment, First Battalion, Company C, in the European Theater of Operations. Killed in Action on April 13, 1945 in Heilbronn, Germany, he was awarded the Purple Heart.
