He was a Pilot on B-17 Flying Fortresses with the 463rd Bombardment Group of the 15th Air Force. From bases in Italy, he was in many campaigns in the liberation of occupied Europe, until he was sadly lost on June 14th, 1944, over the Balkans during an aerial mishap.
