He served as a Gunner on the B-17 'The Club 105' with the 463rd Bombardment Group of the 15th Air Force. From bases in Italy, he was in many campaigns in the liberation of Europe, until he was sadly lost on June 14th, 1944 over the Balkans in an aerial mishap.
