He was the Pilot of the B-17 'The Club 105' with the 463rd Bombardment Group of the 15th Air Force. From bases in Italy, he was in many campaigns in the liberation of Europe, until he was sadly lost over the Balkans while returning from a mission over Central Europe during an aerial mishap.
