Activity During WWII

Enlisted in 1940 after ROTC, he attended graduate school at the U.S. Naval Academy and was then assigned to Portsmouth Naval Base. In 1942 he was assigned to Amphibious Forces in Norfolk where he wrote the training manual for LCI crews. Assigned to convert a liner to a troop transport in San Diego, he ended the war in the Canal Zone.
