He served in WWII from 1942 to 1945 as a radio operator. He was a proud soldier in the 7th Armored Division that faced battles in Northern France, Germany, Belgium, and Central Europe. He earned the European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign medal with four bronze battle stars issued by President Franklin Roosevelt. He also earned a good conduct medal with a Purple Heart issued after a battle in Holland in 1944.
