Activity During WWII

He was a Signal Corps officer for First Army Headquarters who participated in the D-Day invasion on D+1. He rode in with a brigade unit and helped anti-aircraft batteries set up to defend against enemy aircraft. He was awarded a bronze star for hooking chains on caterpillar tractors that had been crippled by landmines so that they could be pulled out of the water.
