Activity During WWII

Inducted into the Army at Camp Grant, Illinois on September 23, 1943. Discharged, Camp Grant, January 23, 1946. Basic Infantry training under Army Specialized Training program at Fort Benning, Georgia. Program cancelled, assigned to the 94th Infantry Division, 376th Regiment, Company L, First Platoon, First Squad for advance Infantry training. August 6, 1944, 94th Division left for England, fought during the Battles of Northern France, Ardennes, Rhineland, Central Europe, which included France's liberation, and the Battle of the Bulge where he served as Sergeant, member of a Browning Automatic Rifle/Bazooka team. War over, 94th sent to Czechoslovakia to serve as occupational force. Received the Expert and Combat Infantry Badges, 2 Overseas Service Bars, European-African-Middle Eastern Ribbon with four Bronze Stars, Good Conduct Medal, WWII Victory Medal and the Bronze Star. In 2008, Czechoslovakia awarded Robert the 60th Anniversary Medal of their liberation from WWII Germany occupation and France awarded him the Knight of the Legion Honor Award, the highest honor France can bestow on an individual.
