Activity During WWII

Assigned to 333rd Bomb Squadron, 94th Bombardment Group (H), 8th Air Force at Royal Air Force Station Bury St Edmunds near Rougham in Suffolk, England; European Theatre of Operations. On 20 October 1943, he flew as the Tail Gunner aboard B-17F Flying Fortress serial #42-30303 nicknamed Raider II on a mission to bombard German fortifications on Walcheren Island, protecting the deep-water port at Antwerp, Belgium. He was initially reported as missing in action, and later killed in action, as no trace of the aircraft was ever found.
