Collected and recycled scrap metal, rubber tires, and batteries; raised poultry, tobacco and a Victory Garden. Spotted and reported airplanes for civil defense. Was an altar boy at the German Prisoner of War Camp at Smith Point, Maryland for American soldiers and German prisoners. Also a Korean veteran. Was a volunteer firefighter at La Plata, Maryland. Retired from the U.S. Naval Ordnance Station with 34 years of service.
