Enlisted October 31, 1942. B-17 tail gunner. On May 29, 1944, his bomber was attacked by enemy fighter planes and was shot down. All crew members bailed out safely. After 2 days of evading German patrols he was captured and imprisoned in Stalag Luft 4. Survived the 88 day winter death march until liberation.
