Activity During WWII

Began war service as a civilian flight instructor for Army Air Corps Cadets at Camden, South Carolina. Enlisted as a reservist at Ft. Jackson, South Carolina and then active duty as an airman piloting aircraft to new crews. Became a pilot flying B-24 aircraft from India to China carrying fuel for B-29 bombers throughout the India, China, Burma region assigned to the Air Transport Command from January of 1945 until the end of the war with Japan. He was assigned to the First Combat Cargo group, serving the 10th Air Force.
