Activity During WWII

He enlisted in the military on May 27, 1943 and received an honorable discharge on January 5, 1946. He began his military career at Camp Blanding: a U.S. Army training center preparing southern troops for deployment. He was an amphibian truck driver with the 821st Amphibian Truck Company in France that transported materials and troops from ship to shore and inland points. He also performed all maintenance on his truck including operational checks before entering and leaving water. He served in the following WWII campaigns: Normandy in Northern France, Ardennes (the Battle of the Bulge), Rhineland, and Central Europe. He was decorated with the Good Conduct Medal, European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal, WWII Victory Medal, Rifle Marksman Badge, and Honorable Service Lapel Button.
