Activity During WWII

Served from September 2, 1941 through the end of the 2nd World War and continued his service beyond. During April of 1942, he was aboard the USS Hornet that carried the raiders of Colonel Doolittle. He also participated in the Battle of Midway, and the Battle of of the Santa Cruz Islands where the Hornet was sunk. He also served aboard the Light aircraft carrier, USS Belleau Wood, taking part in battles of the Gilbert and Marshall Islands as well as the Mariana and Palau Islands. He also took part during the Battle of the Philippine Sea. He was detached from the Belleau Wood in early 1945.
