He joined the U.S. Army in April 1946 as an automotive mechanic and was assigned to the 542nd Signal Heavy Construction Company. Soon after joining he boarded the USS Altman headed toward the Pacific, stopping in Manila, Okinawa, Japan, and other Pacific Countries. He served his country honorably in the Pacific Conflict during WWII and was awarded the WWII Victory Medal ending his service on February 1947.
