Activity During WWII

Rank: Private. On December 31, 1942, he was inducted into the United States Army at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Served as a Rifleman with the Thirty-Sixth Infantry ‘Arrowhead’ Division in the Mediterranean Theater of Operations, attached to the U.S. Fifth Army. He was assigned to Fox Company, Second Battalion and 141st Infantry Regiment. His division participated in the Italian Campaign against the German armed forces (Battle Dates: August 25, 1944-March 1945). Killed in action Monday January 31, 1944 during the Battle of the Gari River, and buried in a battlefield cemetery, Marzanello, Italy. After the cessation of hostilities in Europe, the family of this Soldier received his remains for burial. He was laid to rest at the Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Cheltenham, Pennsylvania. This American Patriot was awarded the Purple Heart posthumously, for his ultimate sacrifice in defense of his country.
