Activity During WWII

Rank: Private First Class. On August 7, 1941, he was inducted into the United States Army at Hartford, Connecticut. Served as a Rifleman with the Eighty-Eighth Infantry ‘the fighting Blue Devils’ Division in the Mediterranean Theater of Operations, attached to the U.S. Fifth Army. He was assigned to Fox Company, Second Battalion and 351st Infantry Regiment. His division participated in the Italian Campaign against the German armed forces (Battle Dates: August 25, 1944-March 1945). Killed in action Friday, September 29, 1944 during a combat engagement on the Gothic Line near the village of Moraducci, and buried in the Castelfiorentino battlefield cemetery in Castelfiorentino, Italy. After the cessation of hostilities in Europe, the family of this Soldier received his remains for burial. He was laid to rest at the Saint John’s cemetery in Norwalk, Connecticut. This American Patriot was awarded the Purple Heart posthumously, for ultimate sacrifice in defense of his country.
