Volunteered 2 January 1942. Completed training on First and Second Echelon maintenance for the P-38 airplane 7 October 1942. Volunteered for bomber duty February 1943. Completed 25 combat missions as Top Turret Gunner/Flight Engineer on B-17 type aircraft with the 100th Bomb Group October 1943 through February 1944. En-route to the States from England 8 April-22 April 1944. Army Air Forces gunnery instructor for 1 year. Medals awarded include: Distinguished Flying Cross, Air Medal with 3 Bronze Oak Leaf Clusters, European-African-Middle Eastern Service Ribbon and one Bronze Service Star, and Good Conduct Medal. Honorably Discharged, lapel button issued 7 September 1945.
