During his service he received the the Bronze Star Medal, American Defense Service Medal, the European-African-Middle Eastern Service Medal, the Good Conduct Medal,the Purple Heart Medal, the Distinguished Unit Badge and the SS Carbine Marksman Badge. He was wounded in action on 24 September 1944 during combat in the European Theater of operations.
