He served as a Private in WWII with the 100th Infantry Division (Century Division), 399th Infantry Regiment, First Battalion, Company C, in the European Theater of Operations. He was a Prisoner of War detained by Germany from November 21, 1944 to July 21, 1945. He was held at Stalag 7A Moosburg Bavaria 48-12 (Work Camps 3324-46 Krumbachstrasse 48011, Work Camp 3368 Munich 48-11OO).
