He was an Anti-Aircraft Artillery Automatic Weapons Crewman with the 118th Anti-Aircraft Gun Battalion. participated in the Normandy, Northern France, Ardennes, Rhineland and Central Europe Campaigns. He was wounded in Germany on 16 December 1944 and was awarded the Purple Heart Medal.
