He was awarded the Bronze Star Medal for his heroic achievement in connection with military operations against the enemy on 11 April 1945 in the vicinity of Gunnersbach, Germany. He also held the Good Conduct Medal, Combat Infantryman Badge, European Theater Operation ribbon with two bronze service stars, and the Unit Citation.
