Rank: Private First Class. He was inducted into the United States Marine Corps July 15, 1942 at Springfield, Massachusetts. His boot camp training took place with the Third Recruit Battalion Training Regiment; Marine Corps Base at Parris Island, South Carolina. Later he completed his Marine Combat Training at Camp Geiger, North Carolina. Served as a Rifleman with the First Provisional Marine Brigade in the Central Pacific Theater of Operations, assigned to Headquarters Company, Second Battalion and Twenty-Second Marine Regiment. His Brigade participated in the Battle of Guam against the Imperial Japanese forces. Killed in action Friday, July 21, 1944 on the first day of the invasion, and buried in the Brigade cemetery, located on the Orote Peninsula. After the cessation of hostilities with Japan, the family of this Marine received his remains for burial. He was laid to rest April 7, 1949 at the Long Island National Cemetery in East Farmingdale, New York. This American Patriot was awarded the Purple Heart posthumously, for his ultimate sacrifice in defense of his country.
