She served with the Women Accepted for Volunteer Emergency Service (WAVES) and was chosen to work with the first computers to direct the flow of material for the Normandy invasion and also were active in code breaking. She and her platoon were awarded a Presidential citation of merit for the work they did. They were based out of Dayton, Ohio.
