Rank: Pharmacist’s Mate First Class. He was inducted into the United States Navy February 28, 1941 at San Francisco, California. Served as a Navy Medical Corpsman aboard the USS Robalo Submarine SS-273 in the Pacific Theater of Operations. Reported missing in action, lost at sea Wednesday, July 26, 1944 when the submarine on her third combat patrol, hit an enemy submerged bomb that was planted in the Balabac Strait, off the western coast of Palawan Island in the Philippine Islands. His name is permanently inscribed in the tablets of the missing, memorialized at the American Cemetery at Fort William-McKinley in Manila, Philippine Islands. This American Patriot was awarded the Purple Heart posthumously, for his ultimate sacrifice in defense of his country.
