He was a Rifleman with 315th Infantry Regiment, 80th Infantry Division, saw combat in the Northern France, Ardennes and Rhineland Campaigns, was twice wounded, in France on 14 September 1944 and Luxembourg on 25 December 1944 and is the recipient of the Purple Heart Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster.
