He was a Prisoner of War in Japan for over three years. He was a corporal with the Air Warning Unit in the Army Air Forces when he was captured on May 5, 1942. At the time he was a patient in Malinta Tunnel Hospital. He spent 40 months in camps in Cabanatuan and Hitachi before being repatriated in September of 1945.
