He was in the 20th Army Air Corps. He was based on the island of Saipan in the Pacific. He was the radar operator on the B-29 'Leading Lady'. He was killed in action January 3, 1945, over Nagoya, Japan. A Japanese kamikaze pilot crashed into one of his B-29's propeller engines. The number on the tail of the was Z square 22. He was buried with his crew on August 13, 1949 at Zachary Taylor National Cemetery, Louisville, Kentucky. He received the Air Medal posthumously.
