He served as a Technician Fifth Grade in WWII with the 100th Infantry Division (Century Division), 375th Field Artillery Battalion, Battery C, in the European Theater of Operations. Killed in Action near Baccarat, France, on November 8, 1944. He was awarded the Silver Star and Purple Heart.
