Rank: Private. He was inducted into the United States Marine Corps May 29, 1942 at Denver, Colorado and completed his basic training, with the Sixth Recruit Battalion Training Regiment; Marine Corps Base in San Diego, California. Upon his graduation from Boot Camp, he was transferred to Camp Pendleton in Oceanside, California for his combat training. Served as a Rifleman with the Sixth Marine Division in the Northwest Pacific Theater of Operations, assigned to Headquarters Company, First Battalion and Twenty-Ninth Marine Regiment. His division participated in the Battle of Okinawa, Ryukyu Islands (Battle Dates: Easter Sunday, April 1–June 22, 1945) Code Name: Operation Iceberg. Reported missing in action Friday, June 29, 1945 during a mopping-up patrol against the Imperial Japanese forces, after all organized resistant had ceased. His name is permanently inscribed in the tablets of the missing, memorialized at the Honolulu National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific, ‘Punchbowl’ Hawaii. This American Patriot was awarded the Purple Heart posthumously, for his ultimate sacrifice in defense of his country.
