He served as a Private in WWII with the 100th Infantry Division (Century Division), 399th Infantry Regiment, First Battalion, Company C, in the European Theater of Operations. Prisoner of War, detained by Germany from November 21, 1944 to June 9, 1945. He was held at Stalag 7A Moosburg Bavaria 48-12 (Work Camps 3324-46 Krumbachstrasse 480ll, Work Camp 3368 Munich 48-ll). He was awarded the Purple Heart.
