He served as a Technical Sergeant in WWII with the 100th Infantry Division (Century Division), 398th Infantry Regiment, First Battalion, Company D, in the European Theater of Operations. Prisoner of War, he was captured in France, detained by Germany from December 4, 1944 until June 5, 1945. He was held at Stalag 12A to 98 Limburg An Der Lahn Hessen-Nassau, Prussia.
