Bronze Star Awarded (General Order 248, 8 October 1945) For heroic achievement in France 16 September 1944, in connection with military operations against an enemy of the United States. During an intense enemy counterattack upon Loisy, France, he volunteered to aid a wounded comrade, administer first aid, then carried him to a zone of safety under severe enemy fire. His courage, determination and untiring devotion to duty are in keeping with the highest tradition of the forces of the United States.
