He served as a Staff Sergeant in WWII with the 100th Infantry Division (Century Division), 375th Field Artillery Battalion, Battery A, in the European Theater of Operations. Prisoner of War, he was detained by Germany from December 4, 1944 until June 1, 1945. He was held at Stalag 3B Furstenberg Brandenburg, Prussia.
